With the help of upKeeper Energy, 6,500 of the county’s computers (84%) are now automatically shut down at the end of the working day and start back up the next morning. This is the result of an energy-saving project within Region Halland’s IT operations.

A feasibility study showed that there were great opportunities to change Region Halland’s IT environment to save energy and reduce costs.

– Before the energy saving measures were implemented, only half of the computers were shut down manually. This amount to about SEK 1 million in reduced energy consumption per year, says Thomas Segerlind, Head of IT Clients in Region Halland.

“Now we save about SEK 1 million on energy consumption each year.”

Halland County and upKeeper

All Region Halland computers are covered by upKeeper Energy, whether used at work, at home or on the road. Exceptions are made for so-called 24/7 computers used in round-the-clock operations.
Thomas Segerlind points out that the simplicity and agility of upKeeper is an unbeatable combination: upKeeper makes the working day more comfortable for users, keeps down the costs for Region Halland and improves the overall working environment.
